Jose Mourinho insists that Cesc Fabregas’ impressive early-season form has not come as a surprise to the Chelsea manager.

The former Arsenal captain has hit the ground running with the Blues this season since moving to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona over the summer.

When he came to Chelsea he was very happy to come back to this league.

The 27-year-old has already notched up four assists in three Premier League games for Mourinho’s men to help them top the Premier League table.

And Mourinho says that Fabregas’ prior knowledge of the Premier League with Arsenal means that the Spain international has not had to adapt to the rigours of the English top flight.

“He [Fabregas] doesn’t need to adapt,” Mourinho told Sport.

“This is a league that he knows, that he had played in for years [with Arsenal]. He was moulded there.

“When he came to Chelsea he was very happy to come back to this league.

“When a boy is happy, he doesn’t suffer any kind of pressure, he knows that his coach trusts him, knows that his mates admire him, feels important – [his form is] not a surprise to me.”
