Juan Mata says it feels like Angel di Maria has been playing at Manchester United for “a long time” after the Argentine’s immediate impact at Old Trafford.

The Argentina international broke the deadlock with a first-half free-kick before teeing up Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata for their strikes in a 4-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

And Mata, who has scored two Premier League goals this season, heaped praise on the British record £59.7m signing after his impressive Old Trafford debut on Sunday.

“It seems he’s been with us for a long time,” Mata posted on his blog, One Hour Behind.

“Angel is a very enthusiastic guy, a great signing. After the game I gave to him the MVP trophy and improvised as his translator for the TV.

“He looks happy and that makes us happy as well.”

Mata added that he is thrilled to be playing alongside new United sigings Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Radamel Falcao.

“Personally, playing alongside guys like Blind, Rojo or Falcao is a joy,” Mata added.

“They will become more and more adjusted to the team and their quality will help us a lot.

“We have been working together for a few days now, getting to know each other, and I’m sure we will be a better team as weeks go by.”
