Juan Mata believes “extraordinary” goal-scorer Radamel Falcao will bring a lot to Manchester United.

The Colombia international completed a season-long loan switch to the Red Devils from Monaco on transfer deadline day last week, costing United a reported £10m.

I am sure he will give a lot to our group

The 28-year-old striker scored 52 goals in 68 La Liga appearances for Atletico Madrid before suffering a season-ending knee injury in January after his move to Monaco last summer.

United midfielder Mata welcomed Falcao to the 20-time English champions and backed the former Porto striker to score plenty of goals for the Manchester club.

“Almost at the end of the transfer window we had a new signing,” Mata wrote in his blog One Hour Behind.

“Not just a player, but a fantastic striker whose ability to score is extraordinary: Radamel Falcao.

“I am sure he will give a lot to our group, as a person and with his goals, and here I welcome him and I wish him the best for this season.”

Mata wished Spain good luck ahead of their opening Euro 2016 qualifier against Macedonia after the United playmaker was omitted from Vicente del Bosque’s squad.

“I would also like to wish good luck to my team-mates in the national team ahead of today’s game,” Mata added.

“The qualifying round for the Eurocup in France kicks off and I’m sure the fans in Valencia will help the team to start with a victory.”
