Liverpool have put everyone’s nose out after wrapping up another Champions League spot, according to Tim Sherwood.

The former Blackburn Rovers midfielder was axed as Tottenham Hotspur manager last May after failing to guide the north London side into the top four.

Liverpool proved the season’s surprise package as Brendan Rodgers’s side finished as runners-up, leaving usual suspects Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal to secure the remaining Champions League spots.

And the ex-Spurs boss feels Liverpool are favourites to finish in the top four again this term, at the expense of Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side, and possibly Everton and Manchester United.

“Tottenham are one striker short of challenging for a top four spot,” Sherwood told talkSPORT.

“It doesn’t get any easier to break into the top four.

“The emergence of Liverpool has put everyone’s nose out because it’s another spot which looks like it’s going to be taken. Brendan has done a great job there.”

Sherwood was linked with the vacant Crystal Palace position last month before Neil Warnock was appointed as Tony Pulis’s successor.
