Liverpool have made a disappointing start to the season, according to Jamie Carragher.

The Reds limped to a 2-1 victory over Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets in their Champions League opener at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Steven Gerrard netted a stoppage-time penalty after Paulos Dani Alaino had cancelled out Mario Balotelli’s 82nd-minute strike.

Liverpool have already lost to Manchester City and Aston Villa in the Premier League, whilst beating Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

And former Reds defender Carragher feels his Brendan Rodgers’s side have a lot of improvements to make to reach last season’s level.

Earlier on Tuesday night, Carragher had urged Liverpool supporters to remain patient with Rodgers’s side as the Reds struggled to break Ludogorets down before Balotelli’s first Liverpool goal.
