‘Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers should replace Roy Hodgson’
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers should replace England boss Roy Hodgson, according to Kevin Davies
Brendan Rodgers is the perfect candidate to replace Roy Hodgson, according to Kevin Davies.
The England manager is coming under increasing pressure after the Three Lions limped to a 1-0 victory over Norway at Wembley on Wednesday night.
He probably wouldn’t leave Liverpool at the moment but might do when Roy’s contract is up
Hodgson was unable to prevent England crashing out at the group stage of this summer’s World Cup, failing to beat Italy, Uruguay or Costa Rica.
And former Bolton Wanderers striker Davies wants the FA to try and lure Rodgers away from Liverpool when Hodgson’s current contract expires in 2016.
“Brendan Rodgers would be perfect for England,” Davies told talkSPORT. “The way he man manages the players is brilliant, he always gets the best out of them.
“He probably wouldn’t leave Liverpool at the moment but might do when Roy’s contract is up, at the end of Euro 2016.
“The way Liverpool play football is exciting, it’s quick counter attacking play, with pace and passion.
“Roy will get us through this qualifying campaign but I just feel it’s a bit stagnated. We’re not going forward as a country at the moment.”
