Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were in good form on Monday Night Football, and the pair continued their friendly banter on Twitter ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League opener.

Carragher, who won the competition with Liverpool in 2005, took to the social media website to express his excitement at the Reds’s return to Europe’s top table after a five-year absence.

The former Liverpool centre-half was asked to give a prediction for the opening Group D encounter against Ludogrets by one of his followers, prompting the Reds legend to tip a 2-0 win.

However, quick-witted Neville, who is a two-time Champions League winner with Manchester United, wasted no time in exposing the lack of clarity in Carragher’s tweet.

Of course, as is often the case on their popular Sky Sports show on Monday nights, Carragher refused to allow the former England right-back to have the last word.

Carragher was part of Rafael Benitez’s side that beat AC Milan on penalties to win the Champions League final in 2005 before losing to the Italian side in 2007.
