Liverpool striker Fabio Borini posts cryptic Instagram message after wage demands scuppered QPR move
Fabio Borini has posted a cryptic message on Instagram in an apparent attempt to shed some light on a dramatic deadline day for the Liverpool striker.
The Italy international was initially expected to join Sunderland but a move fell through after he reportedly rejected the chance to join the Black Cats on a permanent deal.
Queens Park Rangers emerged as surprise contenders to land the former Roma striker, and the west London side had a £12m bid for Borini accepted by the Reds.
However, QPR manager Harry Redknapp revealed that the move fell through before the 23.00 BST deadline on Monday night due to the Italian’s wage demands.
After apparently pricing himself out of a move to another Premier League club and securing first-team football, Borini felt compelled to take to Instagram to justify his decision.
Borini scored seven goals in 32 Premier League appearances during a season-long loan at Sunderland last season.
The 23-year-pd has netted one top-flight strike since moving to the Reds from Roma in a £10m deal in 2012.
