Loic Remy is fully expecting to see Cesar Azpilicueta develop into a top player for Chelsea in the years to come.

Remy played alongside the Spaniard during his spell at Marseille, before the striker sealed a move to Queens Park Rangers in January 2013.

The 25-year-old Azpilicueta enjoyed a fine season for Jose Mourinho’s men last term, making 44 appearances and scoring one goal.

And Remy, who joined Chelsea from QPR this summer, is expecting the Spaniard to continue improving.

“It’s strange because we were at Marseille together, he then came to Chelsea and I went to QPR,” Remy told Chelsea’s website.

“So, we were playing together, then we were playing against each other, and now we are on the same team again.

“I knew because sometimes you can see the quality in a player; I knew he would progress and he deserves to be at a big club.

“He’s a very serious guy, a great professional and he works very hard. I think he can still become even better.”
