Louis van Gaal wants to see more from Angel Di Maria, despite his man-of-the-match display in Manchester United’s win over Queens Park Rangers.

The £59.7m signing gave the Red Devils a first-half lead against the Hoops when his free-kick delivery crept into the far corner of the goal.

Di Maria then set up two more of United’s goals as the Red Devils ran out 4-0 winners at Old Trafford in their first Premier League victory of the season.

However, United boss Van Gaal feels that there is plenty of room for improvement from the Argentina international.

“When you make three goals and score the first yourself then you cannot play badly,” Van Gaal said.

“But he had a lot of unnecessary losses [of possession], so he can do better.

“It’s nearly impossible to do better when you score one goal and help make three others, but I’m analysing the game and I see things we can improve on.”
