Louis van Gaal has promised Manchester United’s fans that he will guide the Red Devils to the Premier League title during his spell at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman watched his side record their first victory of the season on Sunday as they notched up an impressive 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers.

And although the former Bayern Munich coach admits that the title may be beyond reach this season, Van Gaal is determined to bring a 21st top-flight title to the club.

“I want to win the Premier League title,” said Van Gaal, who has signed a three-year deal with the Red Devils.

“If it is not this year then the second or third year. I want to give a championship to the fans.”

Van Gaal also insisted that there is plenty of room for improvement from his side despite Sunday’s thrashing of the west London club.

“When you have a result of 4-0 then you can be happy as a coach, but you always have points you can improve,” he added.

“We have always to analyse what we have done. The result is fantastic, but we can get much better.”
