Jonny Evans is backing Luke Shaw to develop into the best left-back in the world at Manchester United.

The England international moved to Old Trafford from Southampton in a £27m deal back in June as he became one of the world’s most expensive teenagers.

And Evans is convinced that the 19-year-old is set to become one of the world’s best in his position after signing a four-year deal with the Red Devils.

“Looking at our new defenders, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw, I’ve been really impressed, Evans told United Review.

“I watched Marcos at the World Cup and thought he was excellent for Argentina whether he played at left-back or left wing-back, and he can play centre-back too.

“I had the chance to work with Luke in pre-season and there is no doubt he is going to be the best left-back in the world.”
