Steven Jovetic has returned to Manchester City for treatment after being ruled out of Montenegro’s clash with Moldova with a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old sustained the problem in training at the weekend and is now a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Premier League rivals Arsenal.

He suffered the problem in training on Sunday, trying to catch a faster ball

Montenegro’s press officer Ivan Radovic told The Guardian: “Yes, Stevan Jovetic has a hamstring injury and had returned to City.

“He can’t play today [against Moldova]. All I know is that he is unavailable for this game. He suffered the problem in training on Sunday, trying to catch a faster ball.”

Jovetic’s young Manchester City career has been blighted by injuries, and this latest setback is his third hamstring problem since December.

He scored twice in a man-of-the-match display in the 3-1 win over Liverpool last month.
