Louis van Gaal is confident that Manchester United can still win the Premier League title.

The Red Devils are still searching for their first Premier League win under the 63-year-old Dutch coach after draws with Burnley and Sunderland in their most recent outings.

Within the top three, I think is logical perhaps because Manchester United wants to be in the Champions League

But Van Gaal, who signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford in May, isn’t concerned by the points dropped by his United side in the opening weeks of the season.

“Yes it is always possible. Because we have to play a lot matches and we are not so much behind,” Van Gaal is quoted as saying.

However, Van Gaal did concede a top-three finish is a more reasonable target for his new-look Red Devils outfit this season.

“We have spoken about the target when we have had meetings and I think a club like Manchester United has to have targets,” Van Gaal added.

“I also have targets so I don’t think it’s an unreasonable target.

“That it shall be difficult? That is another question but a club such as Manchester United has to always have a target.

“Within the top three, I think is logical perhaps because Manchester United wants to be in the Champions League.”
