Bryan Robson admits that Manchester United could come to regret their decision to sell Danny Welbeck to Arsenal.

The England striker signed a five-year deal with the Gunners last week after being deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford following the Red Devils’ signing of Radamel Falcao.

I would have kept him. He’s a great lad and a good, honest player

Welbeck was brought through the United youth system and had been at the club since he was eight years old.

And Robson was sorry to see the 23-year-old leave Old Trafford to move to north London.

“The players Manchester United allowed to leave were all good business, apart from Danny Welbeck,” Robson told talkSPORT. “I would have kept him. He’s a great lad and a good, honest player.

“You would always get 100 per cent from Danny in every match. He never gets injured and would have been a good squad member.

“The manager has made that decision [however] and Danny will have a great career at Arsenal. He’ll be playing all the time and will do well for them.”
