Niall Quinn believes Radamel Falcao’s reported loan move to Old Trafford proves that Manchester United can still attract the best players in the world.

The Colombia international, who was attracting interest from Arsenal and Manchester City over the past week, is being heavily linked with an £11m loan move to the 20-time English champions.

And former Sunderland striker Quinn believes Falcao’s potential move would give the Red Devils a massive lift after a winless start to their Premier League campaign.

“Their main two up front, Rooney and Van Persie, this will kick them on a bit,” Quinn told Sky Sports.

“He’ll make United improve. Louis van Gaal doesn’t reply on reputation. He builds the team around people pushing each other.

“Falcao will be a wonderful lift to the football club if he comes in.”

Quinn added that Falcao will need to prove his commitment to United after angling for a big-money move to Real Madrid this summer.

“They need a lot. He brings with him a big reputation,” Quinn added.

“For the last six or seven transfer windows, he has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

“Manchester United are the only club that can attract the best players around even though they’re not in the Champions League.”

Quinn continued: “It is a good one for them. He has a great track record. He has done well everywhere that he has been.

“United fans will want to see him get down to business as soon as possible.”
