Man United transfers: Red Devils suffer Kevin Strootman setback
Manchester United are dealt a blow in their pursuit of Kevin Strootman as Roma insist the player is not for sale
Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Kevin Strootman – after Roma insisted that the player is not for sale.
The Red Devils have long been linked with a move for the 24-year-old but a switch failed to materialise during the summer transfer window.
We want to keep him, he is our point of strength
Recent reports have claimed that United are ready to make an official bid for the defensive midfielder in January.
But Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini insists that the Serie A club are determined to keep hold of him.
“He is an extraordinary player, and these rumours have been based on the desires of other clubs,” Sabatini said.
“We want to keep him, he is our point of strength. We hope to see him back on the pitch with all his powers. He played an exemplary role last season.
“For now we enjoy him even while he is injured. We are not thinking in any way of selling him, we hope to have him back. We must have patience and wait, he is a decisive player.”
