Man United transfers: Toni Kroos ‘agreed’ to join the Red Devils
Toni Kroos agreed to join Manchester United but changed his mind after David Moyes' sacking, says Jan Aage Fjortoft
Toni Kroos agreed to join Manchester United but changed his mind after David Moyes’ sacking, according to Jan Aage Fjortoft.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with a swoop for the Germany international during the summer transfer window but a move to Old Trafford failed to materialise.
Kroos opted to join Real Madrid from Bayern Munich on a six-year deal back in July to put an end to the speculation surrounding his future.
But former Norway international and television pundit Fjortoft says that the midfielder had “agreed” to move to United, before Moyes’ sacking and Louis van Gaal’s subsequent appointment.
Fjortoft tweeted on Wednesday night: “Been told from very good sources that Toni Kroos agreed to join Man UTD. But after Moyes out – Van Gaal in: Kroos said no.”
The 24-year-old Kroos was a key player for Germany as they beat Argentina 1-0 to win the World Cup and scored two goals during the competition in Brazil over the summer.
