Wesley Sneijder admits that he is flattered by the speculation linking him with a transfer to Manchester United – but doubts a move to Old Trafford will materialise.

The Netherlands international has long been linked with a switch to the Red Devils, speculation which has heightened since Louis van Gaal’s appointment as manager this summer.

But although the 30-year-old midfielder is happy to hear of United’s reported interest, Sneijder insists that he is happy at Galatasaray.

“It is great to hear that Van Gaal is interested in me, he is a footballing genius,” Sneijder told Turkish newspaper AMK.

“However I doubt Manchester United could tempt me to leave Galatasaray right now, I don’t see it happening.

“Everything is going well for me in Istanbul and I have settled into life in Turkey and feel at home.

“I don’t even know why we keep talking about this. Galatasaray will not be letting me go for a cheap price. It is very unlikely that any deal will happen.”
