Robin van Persie has denied reports that the Manchester United striker requires knee surgery.

There had been speculation that the Dutchman was set to go under the knife as the Red Devil brought in Radamel Falcao on loan on transfer deadline day.

I don’t know where these rumours are coming from

However, the 31-year-old forward has moved to rubbish the claims, describing them as “nonsense”.

“I don’t know where these rumours are coming from,” Van Persie told FOX Sports.

“I can honestly say that I will not visit a hospital any time soon to undergo surgery.

“You need quite a lively fantasy to come up with this nonsense.”

Van Persie scored 18 goals in 28 games for United last season as they finished seventh in the Premier League.
