Mesut Özil takes to Twitter to mark the one-year anniversary of his transfer from Real Madrid to Arsenal
Mesut Ozil took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to mark the one-year anniversary of his deadline-day transfer from Real Madrid to Arsenal.
The Germany international sealed a £42.5m move to Emirates Stadium in the final hours of a hectic 2013 summer transfer window on 2 September.
The 25-year-old scored seven goals in 40 games in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s men in his first campaign in England.
Ozil helped Germany win the World Cup in Brazil over the summer after getting his first taste of silverware with Arsenal as they lifted the FA Cup last term.
The playmaker was also quick to welcome new signing Danny Welbeck to the club after the striker joined on a long-term deal from Manchester United on Monday.
Özil wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: “I’m glad to welcome you, Danny! wish you as much goals as possible! #WelcomeWelbeck #NewStriker #No23 #COYG.”
Ozil has made three appearances for Arsenal this season after enjoying an extended summer break following Germany’s World Cup triumph.
