Meyler thrilled to see Henderson named Liverpool vice-captain
Hull City midfielder David Meyler congratulates new Liverpool vice-captain Jordan Henderson
David Meyler has congratulated Jordan Henderson on being named Liverpool vice-captain.
The England international was named as the Reds’s second-in-command on Monday after his predecessor Daniel Agger sealed a return to Brondby in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool centre-half Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren had been touted as possible contenders, but Brendan Rodgers plucked for fans’s favourite 24-year-old Henderson.
And Republic of Ireland international Meyler is thrilled to see his former Sunderland team-mate Henderson receive the prestigious honour.
Delighted for Hendo to be named vice captain!

Earlier, Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard took to Instagram to issue his support for Henderson’s appointment as his number two.
34-year-old Gerrard wrote: “Our new vice captain. He has worked his socks off for this honour. Well done mate.”
Henderson could make his first appearance as Liverpool vice-captain when the Reds face Ludogorets Razgrad at Anfield on Tuesday night.
