Michel Vorm reflects on ‘special’ Tottenham Hotspur debut
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm reflects on a "special" debut in the League Cup at White Hart Lane
Michel Vorm was happy with a “special” Tottenham Hotspur debut after a thrilling 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.
Spurs substitute Ryan Mason cancelled out Jorge Grant’s 62-minute opener before Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane scored late goals to seal a victory at White Hart Lane.
We’re supposed to be playing a little bit better but it is about the result and we won
And Vorm, who was making his first Tottenham start since joining from Swansea City in the summer, promised that there is more to come from Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Asked how he felt his debut went, Vorm said: “Special. It was my first game for Spurs and hopefully more to come.
“To start with a win in a cup is good, especially when you play at home. We’re supposed to be playing a little bit better but it is about the result and we won.
“So I’m happy with this debut.”
Vorm added that Mason’s 25-yard strike changed the complexion of the cup tie after Spurs went on to see out a comfortable win after a difficult opening period.
“It [Mason’s goal] totally changed the game for us,” Vorm told Spurs TV.
“We played ok possession but we didn’t create much. They were dangerous on the counter-attack. When they scored, I expected a tough last 20 minutes.
“Mason came in and scored a great goal.”
