Mikel Arteta has revealed that Alexis Sánchez has been putting in extra work after Arsenal’s training sessions as he looks to settle in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old scored his first top-flight goal during the 1-1 draw with Leicester City in the Gunners’ last outing following his £35m transfer from Barcelona this summer.

He’s trying really hard to impress everyone

And Arsenal captain Arteta has been thoroughly impressed by the Chile international’s attitude since his switch to the north London club.

“It was good to see Alexis on target once again at Leicester,” Arteta told Arsenal’s official matchday programme. “He’s working really hard and is very enthusiastic.

“He always wants to do more in training and he wants to stay longer after the session has finished.

“He’s the type of player that wants to attack very, very quickly and he’s trying really hard to impress everyone. He’s trying all the right things to be a very important player for us, and I think he is already.”
