Mourinho gives latest Chelsea injury update ahead of Swansea clash
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says Diego Costa has a chance of featuring against Swansea City
Jose Mourinho says Chelsea striker Diego Costa has a “chance” of recovering from injury to face Swansea City on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Blues striker returned from international duty nursing a problem after aggravating a hamstring injury during a 1-0 loss to France last week.
He had one week to work hard with the medical department and he has a chance to play tomorrow
Costa has been one of the standout performers in the opening weeks of the Premier League season, scoring four goals in three top-flight appearances.
And Chelsea manager Mourinho is optimistic that the Spain international can play a part against Garry Monk’s impressive Swansea City side at Stamford Bridge.
“As you know, Diego came back injured,” Mourinho told his pre-match media conference.
“But that was last Saturday, so he had one week to work hard with the medical department and he has a chance to play tomorrow.
“We have a training session now to confirm his condition and make the final decision. He was the only one who came back from the national team with a problem.
“Mikel I haven’t seen yet, but no problem.”
Mourinho confirmed that Chelsea summer signing Loic Remy is in contention to line up against the Welsh outfit.
“He [Remy] is ready,” Mourinho added.
