Phil Neville takes to Twitter to wish Everton debutant Muhamed Besic good luck in the Merseyside derby.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has opted to hand his summer signing a first Premier League start in one of the division’s most raucous derbies.

The 22-year-old earned a £4m move to Goodison Park after the versatile right-back impressed for Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Cup this summer.

And former Everton captain Neville issued his backing for the ex-Ferencvaros defender ahead of the clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Bosnia star signed a five-year deal with Everton as Martinez lured the Berlin-born defender to the Toffees.

Besic, who started his career at Bunesliga outfit Hamburg, scored once in 47 appearances during a two-year spell at Hungarian club Ferencvaros.

Earlier, former Manchester United defender Danny Higginbotham tipped Everton to secure a rare win at Anfield.
