Mesut Ozil is a self-professed fan of rap artist Drake, and the Arsenal midfielder posted a photo with his Canadian music idol on Instagram on Thursday.

The Germany international has been heavily criticised for his recent performances after Arsenal suffered an emphatic 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

And the Arsenal club-record signing attempted to forget the disappointing result in his native Germany by meeting one of his favourite musicians Drake.
“@champagnepapi & me #mesutozil #mesutözil #Drake,” Ozil posted on Instagram.

Ozil, who was pictured partying with world-famous DJ Steve Aoki following the World Cup, makes no secret of the importance of music in his preparation for Arsenal games.

“Because with music you can break down any boundary,” Ozil writes on his official site.

“You can always be perfectly prepared with my favourite songs, no matter how long your game lasts, where you play and who your opponent is.”

But the 25-year-old Arsenal playmaker should perhaps consider mixing up his playlist judging by the £42.5m signing’s most-recent performances.
