Calum Chambers could make his full England debut against Switzerland on Monday as the Arsenal defender hopes to cap a whirlwind start to the season.

Chelsea centre-half Gary Cahill is an injury concern after he was replaced by Everton defender Phil Jagielka in the final 10 minutes of England’s 1-0 victory over Norway at Wembley on Wednesday night.

Chambers, who sealed a £16m move to Arsenal from Southampton in the summer transfer window, enjoyed a 10-minute cameo in the friendly as he was brought on for fellow England youngster John Stones.

The 19-year-old has been one of the brightest sparks in the opening three weeks of the season, looking comfortable playing at centre-half in Arsene Wenger’s defence when called upon.

Cahill, who missed training on Saturday, is fighting to be fit for the Euro 2016 qualifier in Switzerland, but Chambers looks ready to step up should manager Roy Hodgson turn to the Gunners man.

“Boarding the plane for Basel!” Chambers posted with the picture above.

Chambers made 24 appearances in all competitions for Southampton last season during his breakthrough season at the south coast club.
