He’s better known for spotting a pass than picking out a lucrative stock deal – but Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has swapped the centre circle for for the trading floor in the name of charity.

The 22-year-old Gunners midfielder was all smiles as he hit the trading floor for BGC Partner’s annual charity day in commemoration of those who lost their lives in the September 11 attacks 13 years ago.

Wilshere posted the picture above on Instagram and wrote: “Had fun at the BGC charity day in conjunction with Great Ormond Street Hospital to commemorate those who perished on September 11th, 2001 #Trading #MakingMoney”

Sir Alex Ferguson and John Terry were among the other notable attendees at the charity event held in London’s Canary Wharf.

They were tasked with brokering multi-billion pound deals on the trading floor at the BGC headquarters in east London to provide global revenues to hundreds of charities on the day.

All of the money raised from the day is distributed either to the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund or numerous other charities.
