Lukas Podolski has never been one to shy away from a bit of banter on social media.

And the Arsenal forward saw the funny side after he was left red-faced following his own shin-pad mix-up during Tuesday night’s defeat by Borussia Dortmund.

The Germany international was forced to borrow Mesut Ozil’s shin-pads after misplacing his own before he came on as a late substitute during the 2-0 Champions League loss.

And Podolski took to his Instagram page to poke a bit of fun at himself following the incident.

The World Cup winner posted the picture above and wrote: “After last night I’m thinking about bringing out my own set of books. #wheresmyshinpad #banter #Poldi #aha #whotookit #whereswally”

Arsenal next face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday as they look for their first victory since the 1-0 win over Besiktas in the Champions League play-off round.
