Cesar Azpilicueta hailed Chelsea’s “great” 2-1 victory over Aston Villa which kept the Blues top of the Premier League table.

The west London edged into a first-half lead thanks to Oscar’s second strike this week after the Brazilian netted against Bolton Wanderers in midweek.

Diego Costa, who is continuing to manage a niggling hamstring injury, scored his eighth Premier League goal of the season in the 58th minute in west London.

Willian then sealed maximum points for the home side with his first strike of the season in the 79th minute to keep the Blues three points clear of Southampton.

And Chelsea defender Azpilicueta was thrilled that the Blues continued their winning streak ahead of an important game at Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night.

Chelsea will hope to register their first Champions League win in Portugal after a 1-1 draw with Schalke earlier this month.

The Blues and Arsenal are the only unbeaten sides remaining in the English top flight.
