Andre Schurrle has thanked Eden Hazard for his “amazing assist” as Chelsea drew 1-1 at Manchester City on Sunday.

After a tight first half, the Citizens were reduced to 10 men when Argentine right-back Pablo Zabaleta was dismissed for a second bookable offence at The Etihad.

To compound their sense of injustice, the defending Premier League champions fell behind in the 74th minute after Schurrle connected with Hazard’s low cross.

However, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard proved City’s saviour as the former England midfielder equalised against his former club with six minutes remaining.

Following the stalemate, Schurrle took to Instagram to pay tribute to his Chelsea team-mate Hazard after the pair combined for the opener.

“Thanks for the amazing assist bro @hazardeden_10 thanks for the support #cfc #blues” Schurrle posted on Instagram.

Chelsea are three points clear at the top of the Premier League table and five points ahead of last season’s champions City.
