John Terry has underlined his fantastic relationship with Chelsea supporters by making a genuinely touching gesture to one fan.

The 33-year-old Blues captain used his newly-created Instagram account to get in touch with supporter Louise who recently lost her mum.

Defender Terry sent a heartfelt message on the photo-sharing app and offered to give her one of his matchday shirts.

He wrote: “Good morning. I’m so very sorry to hear the terrible news of your mum passing. I would love to send you one of my match shirts and sign it to you.

“You need to continue your mum’s legacy and be strong but never be afraid to cry and think of those fantastic memories.”

After receiving the shirt, the Chelsea fan posted the picture below on Instagram and wrote: “I can’t thank you enough @johnterry.26.

“Means so much to me that you’d take the time and effort to send me one of your shirts #CaptainLeaderLegend.”
