Jose Enrique says Liverpool are ready to make their return to Champions League action ahead of their opening group game against Ludogorets Razgrad on Tuesday night.

The Reds haven’t featured in Europe’s premier club competition since falling at the group-stage hurdle in 2009, prompting five years without Champions League action.

Liverpool’s reward for a second-place Premier League finish last season was a draw against reigning champions Real Madrid, Basel and Ludogorets in Group C.

Brendan Rodgers’s side trained at their Melwood training ground ahead of their Champions League bow on Monday after a shock 1-0 loss to Aston Villa at the weekend.

But Enrique looked relaxed alongside his Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and new Reds team-mate Javier Manquillo as Liverpool geared up to face their Bulgarian opponents.

“From yesterday in the training before champions league. ;)))” Enrique posted on Instagram.

Enrique is yet to feature in the Champions League since moving to Liverpool from Newcastle United in 2011, winning the Capital One Cup at Wembley in 2012.
