Daniel Sturridge has promised Liverpool supporters that he will “be back soon” after the striker suffered an injury blow on England duty.
The 25-year-old striker limped out of a training session following a thigh injury on Friday, and the England international returned to Liverpool for further treatment on the problem.
A FA statement read: “Daniel Sturridge picked up an injury on his thigh in training.
“He has had a scan and will now return to Liverpool for treatment. He will play no part in the forthcoming Switzerland match.”
Sturridge, who moved to Anfield from Chelsea in 2013, missed part of last season with a similar injury, although the striker still managed to score 21 goals in 29 Premier League appearances.
The Liverpool striker is reported to be facing three weeks on the sidelines, which would rule him out of the Reds’s games against Aston Villa, West Ham and possibly Everton on 27 September.
Sturridge posted: “Be back soon…”
The former Manchester City striker has scored 32 goals in 46 Premier League appearances since moving to Liverpool.
