Mario Balotelli can’t wait to make his Anfield debut after the Liverpool striker took to Instagram ahead of the clash against Aston Villa.

The Italy international is expected to lead Liverpool’s frontline after first-choice striker Daniel Sturridge picked up a thigh injury on England duty last week.

Balotelli made his Liverpool debut at White Hart Lane before the international break, although the controversial striker failed to get on the score sheet in a 3-0 win.

The 24-year-old hasn’t tasted competitive action since the victory in north London following his omission from Antonio Conte’s inaugural Italy squad.

The former AC Milan striker, who cost Liverpool a reported £16m, rallied the Reds supporters ahead of his home debut.

“First game at Anfield today! We ll try our best for win this game!” Balotelli posted on Instagram.

“Need a lot of support but we already know that it wont never miss! Great supporters! Great team! Great Liverpool! Come on guys!”

Balotelli scored 20 goals in 52 Premier League appearances during a two-and-a-half year spell at Manchester City, winning the title in 2013.
