Raheem Sterling has hailed England’s “great” 2-0 win against Switzerland on Monday night.

The Three Lions made a winning start to their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign in Basel courtesy of Danny Welbeck’s second-half brace, banishing memories of a miserable World Cup in Brazil.

Liverpool forward Sterling provided the assist for Welbeck’s opening goal in the 50th minute before leading the counter-attack which led to the Arsenal striker’s second goal.

The 19-year-old Reds winger is already being touted as one of England’s key players despite his releative inexperience, making his ninth Three Lions appearance in Switzerland.

“Great win!!!” Sterling posted on Instagram.

Sterling has made a bright start to the Premier League campaign, scoring his first goal of the season at White Hart Lane.

The former Queens Park Rangers youth graduate has scored 13 goals in 63 appearances since making his Liverpool debut in 2012.
