Steven Gerrard says he “really enjoyed” the world premiere of One Night In Istanbul.
The 34-year-old Liverpool captain was a special guest at the premiere as fellow Reds legends Jamie Carragher, Neil Mellor and Dietmar Hamann.
They all played vital roles in helping Rafael Benitez’s side reach the Champions League final in 2005, whilst the aforementioned trio were instrumental as Liverpool won their fifth European Cup in Istanbul.
The film follows the journey of two down-on-their-luck Liverpool cabbies, Tommy and Gerry, who strike an unusual deal with a local gangster in order to secure a trip with their sons to Istanbul for the 2005 Champions League final.
And the film got the rubberstamp of approval from the former England captain, who was unable to guide Liverpool to further glory in Athens in 2007, ending the possibility of a sequel.
“Well done to everyone involved in the Premiere of ‘One Night in Istanbul’ really enjoyed the film and the night with the lads!” Gerrard posted on Instagram.
Gerrard is expected to line up against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.
