Lukas Podolski has taken to Instagram to reveal his excitement ahead of Arsenal’s League Cup opener against Southampton on Tuesday night.

The Gunners host the Saints at Emirates Stadium looking to book their place in the fourth round of the competition and on the back of Saturday’s 3-0 victory at Aston Villa.

Podolski, 29, is yet to start a game for Arsenal this season but could feature for the Gunners in the third-round clash in north London.

Podolski posted the picture above on Instagram and wrote: “Looking really forward for game later, would love to see you all out there supporting us tonight!! #CapitalOneCup #Arsenal #Poldi #aha #AFC #Fans #Support”

Midfielder Abou Diaby could also make his return to first-team action after his lengthy lay-off due to a knee problem.

World Cup winner Podolski has made a total of three appearances for Arsenal from the bench so far this season.
