Mario Balotelli took to Instagram on Tuesday morning to rally the Liverpool squad ahead of their return to the Champions League.

The Reds are set to face Ludogorets Razgrad at Anfield on Tuesday as they make their return to Europe’s elite club competition after a five-year absence.

Balotelli was part of the Liverpool side who slumped to a surprise 1-0 Premier League loss to Aston Villa on Merseyside at the weekend.

However, the Italy striker – who joined the Reds from AC Milan for £16m this summer – is determined to help Brendan Rodgers’ side make amends this week.

Balotelli posted the picture above on Instagram and wrote: “Still confident about my team! Still confident we can go far! Isn’t a bad game that can “kill” us.”

Manager Rodgers is backing the striker to have an impact for Liverpool in Europe this season.

“The best players enjoy that responsibility. I think it’s one he’s relishing,” said Rodgers.

“On the training field, he’s going to work hard to accept that responsibility. He knows that he’s been brought in here to do a job, which is to create and score goals – and work hard.”
