Mesut Ozil has paid tribute to the support of his fans after his impressive display in Arsenal’s win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Germany playmaker, who had been on the receiving end of criticism following a slow start to the season with the north London club, scored one and set up another in Arsenal’s 3-0 victory at Villa Park.

Arsene Wenger has stuck by the World Cup winner despite the question marks surrounding his recent form for the Gunners.

And the played himself took to Instagram on Sunday to thank his fans for their support in recent weeks.

Ozil posted the picture above of him celebrating on Saturday and wrote: “I appreciate the support from all my fans #afc#gunners#mesutözil #mesutozil”

The 25-year-old had not scored or made an assist for Arsenal before Saturday’s Premier League victory at Villa Park.

The win was the Gunners’ second in the top flight this season following their opening-day victory over Crystal Palace at Emirates Stadium.
