Roberto Soldado declared that he was “very happy” to make a rare Tottenham Hotspur appearance after a goalless draw with Partizan Belgrade.
The Spain international has found his first-team opportunities limited at White Hart Lane this season under new Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.
But the Argentine handed the out-of-form 29-year-old striker a substitute appearance in Serbia as Spurs searched for a winner against Partizan.
However, Soldado, who has scored 12 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions following his £26m move to Spurs last summer, failed to trouble their Group C clash.
“Difficult game today in Belgrado,” Soldado posted on Instagram.
“Now we think in the next game Sunday! Very happy to play again. Come on Spurs!”
Tottenham manager Pochettino insisted he was satisfied with a point in their opening Europa League games.
“We knew it would be difficult. The result was fair,” Pochettino said.
“We competed and got a clean sheet. In the end it was a tough game and difficult to do well. We tried. One point was a fair result.”
