Thibaut Courtois has vowed that Chelsea will keep going after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Schalke 04 in their Champions League Group G opener.

The Blues had taken an early 11th-minute lead as £27m signing Cesc Fabregas scored his first Chelsea goal from close range at Stamford Bridge.

However, Jose Mourinho’s side failed to capitalise on a sustained period of domination in the first half, missing a couple of chances to add a second.

And the visitors levelled in the 62nd minute when Netherlands international and Schalke captain Klaas-Jan Huntelaar finished low to Courtois’s right.

Chelsea make the trip to defending Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday, and Courtois promised the Blues would bounce back at The Etihad.

“Disappointed with today’s result, but we keep on going! Sunday next game against Manchester City,” Courtois said.

The Belgium international signed a new five-year Chelsea contract last week after a string of impressive early-season performances.

Courtois has established himself as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper following his return from a season-long loan at Atletico Madrid.
