Erik Lamela has taken to Instagram to wish his former club Roma good luck in the Champions League.
The Rome outfit sealed their return to Europe’s premier club competition courtesy of a second-place finish behind Juventus in Serie A last season.
Lamela swapped the Italian capital for Tottenham Hotspur in a club-record £30.75m deal last summer, ending a two-year spell at Roma.
The 22-year-old has made a bright start to the season, making two assists in the Premier League, after struggling his first campaign at Spurs.
But Lamela hasn’t forgotten the club which made him a big name in European football as he posted a good luck message on his Instagram account.
“Best of luck with the start of the champions league to Roma, my friends and team-mate and your splendid fans,” Lamela posted ahead of Roma’s clash against CSKA Moscow.
“I will never forget you. Let’s go!”
Lamela could feature in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up as Spurs face Partizan Belgrade in their opening Europa League group-stage game on Thursday.
