James Collins and Russell Brand could have been swapping jokes about Liverpool’s defending after the West Ham United defender posed for a photo with the British comedian after Saturday’s win.

The Hammers were emphatic 3-1 winners against Brendan Rodgers’s side at Upton Park, putting on an impressive performance in front of one of their most famous supporters, Brand.

“With Russell yesterday after a great win #topman #irons” Collins posted on Instagram.

Rodgers’s side were 2-0 down inside seven minutes after Winston Reid rose above the Liverpool defence to break the deadlock before Diafra Sakho chipped Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool, who registered a 2-1 victory over Ludogorets in the Champions League on Tuesday night, hit back through Raheem Sterling after the forward scored his third goal of the season.

However, the Reds couldn’t find a second-half equaliser, and Morgan Amalfitano capitalised on another defensive mix up to put the three points beyond doubt for the Hammers.
