Lukas Podolski appeared to be in a reflective mood on Sunday following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

The Germany international, who was an unused substitute against Manuel Pellegrini’s men on Saturday, took to Instagram to post a picture of himself with his two grandmothers.

World Cup winner Podolski wrote: “The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.

“These are my grandmas and the reason I am who I am today. Ps: we cheered the cup together :) #Poldi #aha #WorldChampions #Love #Grandmas #Roots #ForeverLove #LP10 #NeverForgetWhereYouComeFrom”

The 29-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game for Arsenal this season and has so far only made one brief substitute appearance against Leicester City.

Podolski was linked with a move away from the north London club this summer but a move failed to materialise.
