Chelsea were put through their paces at their Cobham training ground on Tuesday morning ahead of their Champions League clash with Schalke.

The Blues are gearing up for their return to Europe’s elite club competition after reaching the semi-finals last season.

Jose Mourinho’s men, who are top of the Premier League, have lost just one of their last 30 home league games, dating back to January 2013. That came with April’s 2-1 defeat by Sunderland.

Diego Costa was all smiles during the session as he looks to continue his fine start to the season.

The Brazilian striker has scored seven goals in four Premier League games following his transfer from Atletico Madrid.

Costa, 25, is only the second player to score in each of his first four Premier League games after Micky Quinn, who achieved the feat for Coventry City in 1992.

Here are some of the best pictures from Tuesday morning’s training session.
