Robin van Persie and Daley Blind were unable to prevent the Netherlands from slipping to a Euro 2016 qualifier defeat by the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

Borek Dockal gave the hosts the lead in Prague before Stefan de Vrij equalised in the 55th minute for Guus Hiddink’s men.

But a mistake by Daryl Janmaat allowed Vaclav Pilar to hit a stoppage-time winner to hand the Czechs a 2-1 victory.

Manchester United new-boy Blind played the full 90 minutes along with striker Robin van Persie, as the Oranje suffered their second straight defeat under Hiddink.

Hiddink said after the game that he had to take some time to calm down after being “angered” by the manner of the defeat.

“I had to take myself into seclusion,” said Hiddink. “I was extremely angry and that is why I stayed away [from the post-match media interviews] this long. In the final seconds of a match you should never ever lose.

“We were able to just walk out of here with a 1-1 draw. We gave it away so stupidly. When I talk about it now I get extremely angry again.”
