Radamel Falcao: I wanted to join Man United despite Real Madrid interest
Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao reveals the Red Devils had been tracking the Colombian for a "few months"
Radamel Falcao has insisted that he always wanted to join Manchester United ahead of Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old forward completed a season-long loan move to United from Monaco in a deal worth a reported £10m on the final day of the summer transfer window.
Other clubs like Real Madrid were interested, but I wanted to go to Manchester
However, Falcao was reported to be keen to join Champions League winners Madrid, appearing to delete a post on his Twitter that suggested a move to los Blancos was on the cards.
But the Colombia international has attempted to clear up any confusion surrounding his move to Old Trafford, insisting that United had been tracking the striker for a “few months” before his eventual move.
“Manchester United had been pursuing me for the past few months,” Falcao told Four Four Two.
“Yes, other clubs like Real Madrid were interested, but I wanted to go to Manchester. It is a great club, with a great history and one that fills me with a lot of hope that I can succeed there.
“There were moments where I didn’t think the transfer would occur in time – something that was stressful to me – but in the end it worked out. Like I said, this is a great opportunity for me, especially after my injury.”
