Radamel Falcao snubbed Arsenal and Liverpool before late move
Arsenal transfers: Radamel Falcao turned down moves to Arsenal and Liverpool in favour of joining Manchester United
Radamel Falcao turned down late approaches from Arsenal and Liverpool before his deadline-day loan move to Manchester United, the striker’s father has claimed.
The 28-year-old Colombia international sealed a late switch to Old Trafford on a season-long loan from Monaco as Louis van Gaal bolstered his attacking options at the club.
Liverpool also approached him and Arsenal at the last minute
Falcao had been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool during the summer transfer window – and the forward’s father has revealed that both Premier League clubs expressed an interest in signing his son before his switch to United.
“Manchester United is the most important team in England and one of the most powerful financially,” said Radamel Garcia.
“Now he [Falcao] must perform at his best to continue winning.
“Fortunately he has adapted to European football and in the teams where he has been in Argentina it was easily done too.
“Juventus, Manchester City, Liverpool also approached him and Arsenal at the last minute.
“Fortunately, he ended up at Manchester United, a great team that he has to lead forward.”
